Beautiful Thinking.

Happy Birthday Leonardo…and us!

This month we’ve celebrated our anniversary as Free The Birds, but also the birthday of our Beautiful Thinker, Leonardo Da Vinci.

Leonardo is the essence of Beautiful Thinking. An artist. A designer. An inventor. An icon. It was his habit, when he came across birds for sale in a market, to buy them and then release them from their cages. This seemed an inspiring philosophy, reflects the kind of people we are and it gives a sense of what we do for our clients.

From an action packed cultural safari to pub themed quiz nights, celebrating and getting inspired by other Beautiful Thinkers.

Da Vinci Code Escape Room Experience

An authentically decorated and themed renaissance escape room with in period puzzles, which felt like going back in time with only candle light to find clues and solve the puzzles all within 60 minutes. The escape room was fully automated and fully immersive. When we entered it was like going back in time struggling to see in a darkly lit space.

Whitechapel Gallery : Creative Studios

The Whitechapel Gallery was the next stop, featuring a 100-year survey of the studio through the work of artists and image-makers from around the world.

Whether it be an abandoned factory, an attic or a kitchen table, it is the artist’s studio where the great art of our time is conceived and created. In this multi-media exhibition, the wide-ranging possibilities and significance of these crucibles of creativity take centre stage and new art histories around the modern studio emerge through striking juxtapositions of under-recognised artists with celebrated figures in Western art history.

The exhibition brings together more than 100 works by over 80 artists and collectives from Africa, Australasia, South Asia, China, Europe, Japan, the Middle East, North and South America. They range from modern icons such as Francis BaconLouise BourgeoisPablo PicassoEgon Schiele and Andy Warhol, to contemporary figures such as Walead BeshtyLisa Brice and Kerry James Marshall.

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience

The final experience was the Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience a 20,000 square foot light and sound spectacular featuring two-story projections of the artist’s most compelling works. The brilliance of one of history’s greatest artists is revealed in 360 degrees.

In addition to a spacious central area where Van Gogh’s works stretch floor-to-ceiling, the experience includes separate galleries that chronicle his life, technique, and influence through informative panels, larger than life re-creations and engaging instillations.

Beautiful Thinkers Pub Quiz night

We also got to host a fun quiz night at FTB HQ, hosted by our very own production manager, Robin AKA the resident quiz master. Topics from the Great Masters, Astronomy and a little bit of Physics along the way. A tough but highly competitive gathering of minds. A great evening was had and the winning team each had a bottle of champagne to celebrate their successes. We think Leonardo would have approved.
